The Problem We’re Here to Solve
Rates of life-threatening non-communicable diseases, like cancer, and chronic diseases, are rising globally, yet the newest, most effective treatments remain far out of reach for many.
For many patients and their families, they are forced to make impossible choices — giving up work, selling homes, taking on debt, or even sacrificing basic needs just to afford treatment.
These devastating realities highlight the urgent global need to make life-saving treatments truly accessible—a challenge no single organization can solve alone.
Lasting impact relies on the combined strength of diverse partners working together. Built on multi-partner collaboration, Medicine Within Reach is committed to expanding treatment access and creating a new reality for patients where it is needed most.
How Medicine Within Reach Works
For patients facing impossible choices, we help overcome barriers and create opportunities to access life-saving treatment in 23 countries. By bringing treatment within reach, we empower more patients to receive care, give families renewed hope, and save more lives.
Patients
Millions of patients in low- and middle-income countries are diagnosed with life-threatening diseases every year. The treatments they need exist, but most can’t begin care because of cost.
More than 40,000 patients are currently receiving life-saving treatment through programs managed by our partner, Axios International; proof that access is possible when barriers are removed. But the story isn’t over.
Every day, thousands more are diagnosed with life-threatening diseases. Without the means to pay for the treatment they need, many must settle for suboptimal care — leading to poorer outcomes and unnecessary suffering.
They need your help to start the treatment they so urgently need to survive.
Partnership & Support
Patients enrolled in Axios-managed access programs receive support from multiple sources to help cover the cost of their treatment, including medicines manufacturers, healthcare organizations and community-based organizations.
Their combined support covers up to 90% of treatment expenses - laying the groundwork for sustainable access.
You can help close the remaining gap with your generous support.
Bridging the Gap
Even with multiple supporters contributing to treatment, up to 10% of the treatment cost remains uncovered. This is where the Medicine Within Reach model comes full circle and donors like you can help.
Your generosity bridges that final gap, transforming treatment that is nearly within reach into treatment that is fully accessible, ensuring no patient is left behind.
Together, our supporters help achieve what none of us could do alone. Each plays a vital role, and it is only through this shared commitment that access to life-saving treatment becomes possible. With your support, patients no longer need to settle for suboptimal care, turning fear into hope that a better life is possible.
